Lead translator was saved by two other fellow translators, who shielded him with his bodies during the militants attack on the Wycliff translation centre in the Middle East. Wycliff Associates, the international organisation that employs Bible translators, revealed in March an information about “the militants attack” that took place in February this year but it provided more details only this week.
According to the report by Wycliff Associates militants “stormed the translation centre”. They destroyed computers, printers and burned the books. During the attack they killed four translators.
Author of the Wycliff report leaves no doubt that the lead translator, who was heroically saved by his colleagues “was a prime target for the militants”.
Wycliff Associates decided not to publish neither names of victims nor even to reveal, which country this attack took place being concerned for the lives and work remaining translators.
