Russian Federation might have attempted to influence in the electoral process of the United States. On July 25th, the first Day of National Convention for Democratic Party an organisation Wikileaks with strong links to Kremlin published internal communication of the party on Internet.

According to public information Russian fingerprints are visible on the attack. It is being alleged that the Russian military intelligence perpetrated the attack against the servers of National Democratic Committee.

“One of the strongest pieces of evidence linking GRU to the DNC hack is a reused command-and-control address – 176.31.112[.]10 – that was hard coded in a piece of malware found both in the German parliament as well as on the DNC’s servers. Russian military intelligence was identified by the German domestic security agency BfV as the actor responsible for the Bundestag breach. The infrastructure for the fake MIS Department domain was also linked to the Berlin intrusion through at least one other element, shared SSL certificate.”

The revealed National Democratic Committee officials emails contained a political information, which was aimed to discredit Party of Democrats in the United States helping to secure more support for Republican nominee Donald Trump. Its likely goal was also to inflame more conflict on the basis of the distrust for public institutions in the United States.

This propaganda theme Kremlin has been using consistently and systematically against the Americans through the programming in the Russian-sponsored or affiliated media such as Sputnik, RT or original American conspiracy radio and television programs.

Due to the seriousness and timing of the attack there was suspicion that the cyber-attack was a national security attack. Federal Bureau of Investigation decided to launch an investigation.
